Tongue-tie, or a short lingual frenulum, can restrict the tongue's movement and affect breathing, swallowing, and speech. Functional frenuloplasty corrects this restriction within an approach focused on the functional outcome, not just the surgical one.
We specialize in diagnosing and treating tongue-tie, performing functional frenuloplasties in children and adults within an interdisciplinary approach.
Our work is closely coordinated with myofunctional therapy and speech therapy to ensure the surgery has a real functional impact on breathing, swallowing, and speech.
WHY A FUNCTIONAL APPROACH?
Releasing the frenulum isn't enough:
function needs to be guided too.
Releasing the frenulum without guiding function may not translate into real improvement. That's why the procedure is paired with myofunctional therapy before and after, so the tongue learns to move and position itself correctly.
